Habitat for Humanity ReStore

We are always looking for dedicated volunteers to help us run our ReStore. We sell new and lightly use goods to the general public at a significantly reduced price. We need volunteers Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-4pm. Listed below are some of the many volunteer positions at the ReStore:

Volunteer Job Service Descriptions:

Cashier Assistant

Thursday, Friday and Saturday / 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Must have a friendly personality.
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to greeting and assisting customers, answering the phone, and assisting the Cashier.
  • Responsible for keeping Customer Service Center organized and clean.
  • Telephone experience required in answering and taking messages.
  • Attends to the Customer Service Center and bulletin board by keeping all information and brochures updated and stocked.

Donation Pick-Up Assistant

Tuesday-Thursday 9am – 3pm

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the Donation Pickup Driver by loading and unloading donations
  • Screening products for usability and distributing donation receipts.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs., stand, squat, and climb in/out of truck.
  • Able to take responsibility and confidently help make decisions
  • Communicate well with ReStore Staff
  • This position requires operation of a pallet jack and small hand tools along with the possibility of operating the box truck – required experience and qualifications necessary – Driver’s License required
  • A positive and friendly personality

Receiving and Processing Assistant

Tuesday-Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist by helping load and unload ReStore donations.
  • Able to safely lift, sort and clean donations
  • Assists with customer service
  • Help keep departments organized by returning misplaced items to proper department
  • Help keep departments safe for customers by proper placement of sharp items, protruding items, walkway obstruction, etc.
  • Help keep departments stocked and showroom neat and clean
  • Recycling of unusable merchandise as well as electronics, cardboard, metal, plastic, paper, etc.

Office Worker

Thursday and Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Reception duties, such as answering the phone, correspondence, assist with email/mail, organize and maintain files.
  • Friendly and courteous
  • Comfortable with operating a computer
  • Keeps the office area organized, stocked and clean.

Groundskeeper

Tuesday-Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Keep property tidy, free of trash and unwanted debris
  • Able to safely operate a riding lawn mower, brush hog, weed whacker, etc.
  • General maintenance on lawn and garden equipment

Housekeeper

Tuesday-Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • ReStore, Office and Kitchen Cleaning
  • Restroom Cleaning
  • Empty trash cans
  • Vacuum and Sweeping floors
  • Window washing and Dusting

Hospitality

Tuesday-Saturday 9am – 4pm

  • Coordinates bakers/cookers to prepare snacks, desserts and meals for ReStore Volunteers.

Door Greeter

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9am – 4pm

  • Greet customers as they come and go
  • Inform Customers of Weekly Sales
  • Direct Customers to Departments of their interest
  • Knowledge and understanding of ReStore and Habitat for Humanity

Yard Guard

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledgeable of ReStore Building Materials Pricing
  • Assisting Customers in ReStore’s Outdoor Yard
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Enjoys being outdoors….in all weather!

ReStore Floor Worker

Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in cleaning, repair, sorting and applying safety measures to donated items
  • Department assignment – this will be your area to keep maintained
  • Stocking ReStore shelves. Keep shelves neat, clean and organized
  • Assure that merchandise is placed in appropriate departments.
  • Keep floors clean and free of debris in each department and safe for customers to shop
  • Knowledge of Safety and the ReStore Policies and Procedures is necessary

Customer Service

Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4pm

Supervisors: Volunteer Floor Supervisor and ReStore Manager

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting customers and assisting when they need help. Strong knowledge of the ReStore Policies and Procedures is necessary.
  • You will be assigned a specific department(s) of the store to service or be a Service “floater”
  • Always polite and courteous
  • Help to keep display areas safe and organized
  • Check department aisles for safety

Volunteer Floor Supervisor

Tuesday-Saturday 9am – 4pm

Responsibilities to include but are not limited to:

  • Interfaces with ReStore Staff by leading and coordinating daily duties for the Floor Workers that includes cleaning, repair, proper recycling and pricing and placement of specific donations
  • Utilizing Floor Worker Volunteers to the best of their ability
  • Assist ReStore Staff by evaluating the condition and acceptability of incoming Home Décor and Furniture Donations
  • Maintain overall appearance of departments and presentation of merchandise, with safety in mind
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, positive attitude and respectful of others
  • Monthly meetings with ReStore Manager and Volunteer Coordinator

Internet Sales and Internet Merchandise Marketing

Tuesday-Saturday 9am – 4pm

  • Select items and post for online sales
  • Proper shipping of items
  • Communicate with ReStore Manager on progress, needs and weekly reporting.
  • Polite and courteous to others.

Food / Lunch Sponsors

A well fed volunteer is a happy and productive volunteer. Are you interested in helping out Habitat for Humanity but the construction site may not be the best fit? We are always in need of individuals and groups who can provide a lunch for our volunteers. Lunches can be anything from sandwiches to pizza to a big pot of chili or Sloppy Joes.

We are in need of lunch sponsors for our Wednesday and Saturday build sites. We are usually looking to feed 10-30 volunteers depending on the day. If you are interested please contact the volunteer coordinator at 330-743-7244 x302
