Women Build
The Women Build program was established by Habitat for Humanity International
to empower women to build Habitat for Humanity homes, enabling them to impact
the lives of children by making home ownership a present reality for families.
Women Build is not about excluding men; it is about including women. Women
are often intimidated on a mixed construction site; but in a comfortable
environment of a Women Build, they quickly learn construction skills. When
women come together in a supportive environment, they feel a tremendous
sense of accomplishment and self-esteem.
Women Build brings together women from all walks of life to actively address
the problem of children in poverty by building simple, decent, healthy and
affordable houses. More than 12 million U.S. children — one in six — live
in poverty. Women can realize they hold the solution in their hands to move
children out of poverty housing. Women need not wait for others to address
sub-standard housing issues. They have the capability and determination
to be part of the solution — one family at a time.
Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County invites all women interested in being part of the solution to volunteer and help make a difference in the lives of a family.
We will be having a Women’s Build Day on May 7th, 2011. Please call to find out more or to sign up!
